    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The Case Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCCC) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) is seeking applicants at the PhD level for a Research Associate position in a newly established Bioinformatics Analysis group. As a critical member of the Bioinformatics Analysis team, the individual will assist Cancer Center investigators with analysis of high throughput "omics" data, study designs, grant applications and manuscript preparation.

    The individual selected must have good knowledge of molecular biology and computer programming in order to be capable of integrating biological research needs with informatics strategies and computational approaches. The individual is expected to have extensive familiarity with modern bioinformatics hardware, software and computer programming systems (such as R, SQL, Unix/Linux), and experience in processing and analysis of DNA and RNA based high throughput data such as but not limited to, next generation sequencing data, microarray, methylation, CHIP-seq, SNP analysis and/or others.

    The candidate will be expected to install, maintain and manage analysis pipelines for DNA and RNA based high throughput data. The candidate will frequently consult and interact with a wide range of basic and translational researchers involved in cutting-edge research. The candidate will be expected to assist with triaging incoming work requests, tracking/monitoring projects and supervising programmers/analysts. As an essential integrating and functional position, the career development of the candidate will stay in the non-tenure track arena. Bioinformatics analyses will be performed as part of a fee-for-service; however, the candidate is also encouraged to establish local and outside collaborations on topics of interest.

    REQUIREMENTS

    The candidate must have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience in bioinformatics data analysis and interpretation, a PhD in bioinformatics, computer science or molecular biology, and experience with integration of multiple genomic datasets of different types and sources. The candidate will be a team player with excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
