    BACKGROUND

    A position for a researcher in Computational Biology is available in the laboratories of Prof. Claudia Köhler and Prof. Lars Hennig at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala.

    Our department belongs to the SLU BioCenter, a recently created strong research environment for basic and applied research about plants and microorganisms. The BioCenter is located on the main campus of SLU outside Uppsala, 70 km north of the Swedish capital Stockholm.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The objective of the project is to use and to develop computational tools to interrogate genome, transcriptome and epigenomic regulation in plant model organisms. The work will also include the development and implementation of analysis pipelines for novel sequencing technologies and to implement new tools for general use.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Applicants should have a master in bioinformatics, or in a biology-related field with a strong interest in bioinformatics or applied statistics. Familiarity with at least one scripting language (Perl and R preferred) and a good understanding of genomics tools and databases are required. The ability to communicate and collaborate with colleagues from biology or other scientific disciplines is expected.

    TERMS

    The position is a full-time position for up to 2 years with possibility for extension. Starting date is January 2, 2012 or later as agreed on.
