Upon first glance, one might assume that Bioinformatics.Org has gone commercial. But, look closer, and you'll see that the banner ads at the top aren't for cell phones, X10 cameras, or even for commercial bioinformatic software.

Created by Martin Kucej and hosted at Bioinformatics.Org for about a year, BioBanner is a banner exchange system for NON-COMMERCIAL biology projects and websites. Members of the BioBanner system can submit banners which will appear on other members' websites.

Being a member of the BioBanner system means that you place a banner somewhere on your own website, but Bioinformatics.Org projects will have that requirement fulfilled by the Organization's own participation.

Can't draw or design a banner for a hill of beans? No worries. The talented Martin Kucej developed an interactive banner maker, which works online from the BioBanner website. Just enter some text, choose some colors, and you're on your way.

Bioinformatics.Org projects are especially encouraged to join the BioBanner exchange! Currently, Librarian, Piper and MeltSim have joined.
