Applications are invited for a BBSRC-funded post-doctoral position available immediately to work with Dr Sylvie Ducki on a project entitled the Design, Synthesis and Biological Evaluation of Novel Tubulin Ligands.

The aim of the project will be to establish a molecular model for the interactions in tubulin-ligand complexes using molecular modelling and docking tools.

Candidates should have a postgraduate degree in a molecular modelling related subject or experience in medicinal chemistry together with a proven aptitude for computational work. The position will involve close co-operation with synthetic chemists as well as biochemists therefore applicants should enjoy teamwork and show an active interest in related scientific disciplines.

The salary will be on the RA1A scale (£17,626-£26,491) depending on age and experience. The post is available immediately and will be for two years.

Interested applicants should submit (for a quick contact use e-mail) a cover letter and a CV to Dr. Sylvie Ducki, (s.ducki[at]salford.ac.uk) Centre for Molecular Drug Design, Cockroft Building, University of Salford, Salford, M5 4WT, UK.

My name is Bartosz Tylkowski, I am a student of Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznañ, Poland. I am 24 years old and I study chemistry. I have full 4 years studying behind me (note 4,6/5,0).The first semester of third year I spent in Spain. I went there with a stipendium /grand (exchange programme ?Erasmus?). I used to work in laboratory of coordination chemistry at Universdad de Barcelona. I spent there 5 months. During my stay in Spain I took part in some research programmes. The subject of my work was "The synthesis and magnetic properties of high dimensional polynuclear compounds derived of the dicyanamide ligand". At the University in Poznan I studied in individual programme, that is why I work in bioinorganic laboratory everyday, where I cooperated with famous polish professor Lechoslaw Lomozik. I am interested in biochemistry (nuclein acides), molecular chemistry and biology. I am very active in student's organisations. I am President of Student Government at Department Chemistry, I also represented the student's meeting in Student's Polish Government. Now I am in Nantes, France with a grand ?Leonardo da Vinci?. The name of the company where I?m effecting my stage is ?Eurofins Scientific Analytics?. The Group is a worldwide leader in providing state-of-the-art bioanalytical services. The project will use a range of isotopic and compositional criteria, to establish principal components that can be used to distinguish between the geographical origins of salmon (differentiation between wild and farmer salmons). A database will be built up by analysing in a co-ordinated manner lipids from salmon of authentic origin. As I mentioned I am very interested in chemistry and it constitutes an important part of my life. I hope to achieve my aim in this area. That is why I would like to ask you to give me some information about opportunities to study at Your University (in Your laboratory). Could you be so kind and send out for me information about Ph.D. programmes? I think that studying abroad could help me to achieve my goods. I am waiting for message. Thank You in advance and best regards, Bartosz Tylkowski figofagobartek@o2.pl
