    DESCRIPTION

    A postdoctoral research fellow position is available immediately to work on a comparative genomics project. The primary focus of this position will be, but not restricted, to study the conserved non-coding regions for gene regulatory features. The candidate shall work in a group for developing an analysis pipeline for whole genome comparison utilizing the supercomputing facilities of the center, and involve in studies to detect gene regulatory features.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Ph.D. or Postdoctoral training in Molecular Biology/Computational Biology One programming language (Perl, C/C++, SQL)

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS

    Qualified candidate should have background in molecular biology and/or bioinformatics. Experience in one of the programming languages (C/C++, Perl, SQL) is highly desired, and experience in database management is a plus. The candidate shall be familiar with genome scale sequence comparisons and use of sequence comparison software under UNIX platform.

    Candidates with Masters degree in Molecular Biology/Computational Biology and relevant experience may be considered for position of Research Associate

    COMPENSATION

    Salary will be S$3500-S$4500 depending on candidates experience.

Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology Position The University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and the Benedum Oncology Informatics Center announce a 1 or 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Oncology Informatics The successful applicant will work well on a multidisciplinary research team on the optimization of computational approaches to the pre-interpretive and interpretive analysis of high throughput genomic and proteomic data, and will enjoy opportunities to interface directly with >20 UPCI-affiliated cancer researchers and colleagues in biostatistics, human genetics, computer science and pathology, in a dynamic, fast-paced, cutting edge research institute. Qualifications include a background in the biological sciences, with demonstrable programming experience in C++ or JAVA. Demonstrated experience with coding alignment algorithms, concepts of statistical learning, computational structural biology and computational genomics a plus. The fellow will be encouraged to complement their previous training with the many excellent courses offered at the University of Pittsburgh in machine learning, biostatistics, computational biology and bioinformatics. A second year of funding is dependent on the availability of funding.
