Bioinformatics Centre (BTIS Sub-DIC) at Birla Institute of Scientific Research, Jaipur is organizing a three-day workshop on â??Bioinformatics: Genomics and Proteomicsâ??. The underlying theme of this workshop is to expose participants to the current bioinformatics approaches which are being used in genomics and proteomics arena. The training is intended to cover all major concepts of bioinformatics through guided practical training. It will give the participants a glimpse into the current facet of bioinformatics, genomics and proteomics. All the participants will be given hands-on experience with the biological data and its analysis.
The lab exercises during workshop include both dry and wet lab. In wet lab participants are exposed to DNA isolation, gel electrophoresis, PCR for DNA amplification, proteome analysis by 2D method and data analysis. The exercises of dry lab includes accessing molecular information and retrieval technique, similarity searching techniques using BLAST and FASTA, PSI-BLAST, PHI-BLAST, orthologue identification and family reconstruction, pairwise & multiple sequence alignment, pattern identification, genome analysis, DNA, RNA & protein sequence analysis, secondary structure analysis and prediction, biomolecular structure visualization and analysis.
The participants of the course may be students, research scholars, faculty and industry personnel with background in life sciences and/or information technology.
The registration is open for the course and the last date of registration is 30th December 2005.

hello sir,
i found out about the bioinformatics workshop being conducted in Jaipur in January through Bioinformatics.org.
i'm a final year computer science student in NMAMIT,Nitte,Karnataka.
i'm very interested in bioinformatics...but i can't attend the workshop as we will be having semester exams till 16th of January...
i'm sure there are many students down here in Karnataka and neighbouring states who share my interest. my request is that can the workshop be conducted in March or so again..somewhere in Bangalore or Mumbai..or Hyderabad.
please sir..its a sincere request..please consider it.
