For the period 2003-2005, we are looking for a post-doc to work on the modeling of genetic regulatory networks. The post-doc will participate in the project "Validation of models of genetic regulatory networks: global regulation of transcription in Escherichia coli and Synechocystis PCC 6803". This project, funded by the "Programme BioInformatique" of the French Ministry of Research, is part of a collaboration involving computer scientists and biologists of the cole Normale Supérieure (ENS) in Paris, the Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique (INRIA), and the Université Joseph Fourier (UJF) in Grenoble (France). The objective of this collaboration is to use methods for the qualitative modeling and simulation of genetic regulatory networks.

The post-doc will develop mathematical models of the regulatory networks underlying the global regulation of transcription in E. coli and Synechocystis and simulate the behavior of the bacterial systems. The modeling task involves the collection of biological data concerning the network components and their mutual interactions, available in the literature and in public databases. The data are completed by hypotheses suggested by the biologists participating in the project. On the basis of the biological data, mathematical models of the networks will be constructed, by formalizing the regulatory logic of the molecular mechanisms underlying the control of the synthesis and degradation of proteins. The predictions obtained from the models will be compared with expression data obtained by the experimentalists, with a view to validating the models and suggesting possible revisions of the hypotheses.

We are looking for a researcher in biomathematics, theoretical biology, or bioinformatics with a background in mathematical modelling and genomics. The candidate possesses the skills to function in a multidisciplinary research environment. The post-doc will have his or her base at INRIA, while, closely collaborating with the biologists at ENS and UJF. Candidates are asked to send a CV and the address of two references BEFORE 20 DECEMBER 2002 to:

I am a Computer Engineering student and found the topic name interesting. I dont know anything about it, and I tried lots to find information on this topic. But, could not get a proper guided knowledge about it.Could anyone kindly inform me where I can find the basic information about the subject ? Also, if I were to investigate into more details of this matter, which books should I refer? My email id is sailee_latkar@yahoo.co.in. Please help. Regards, Sailee.
