    BACKGROUND, RESPONSIBILITIES

    A position is open for a scientific programmer, with a primary focus on database programming, data design, automation, development of web and graphical interfaces. The position also provides an opportunity to pursue independent bioinformatics research in form of method development and data mining. The position is part of a large scale scientific collaboration among several research groups and universities.

    REQUIREMENTS, PREFERENCES

    Background in protein sequence and structure analysis oriented bioinformatics and/or related topics. MSc or PhD in a related topic with a good track record.

    Required skills: expert working knowledge in perl/ cgi, java, mysql, dbi, xml, html, under linux operating environment. Additional low level programming skills (preferably C/C++) and experience with various bioinformatics softwares are a plus. Excellent communication skills needed because of the highly collaborative nature of the position.
