"BioOS is an effort to make an OS which is, intelligent, self sufficient, self maintaining and even self aware OS. Essentially a total simulation machinery for CELL. However, it is a very long term goal and in the mean time, an OS which has all the useful bioinformatics applications, tools and DBs are being constructed. This was previously called Biolux (Bio + Linux, 1995, originally served by sonja.caius.cam.ac.uk). The prime goal of the present BioOS is to build a RedHat like or derived Linux OS which contains all the key components for Biological research and applications."
