BBS (Bioinformatics Benchmark System) v1.0 released
Submitted by Joe Landman; posted on Tuesday, September 23, 2003
The Bioinformatics Benchmark System is now active. The initial tests are based upon NCBI BLAST. The code is in the cvs system. The rubicon has been crossed ...

These tests are just the beginning of an extensible and more comprehensive testing suite to allow exploration of the performance of your systems for bioinformatics computing. There is much work to do, but we are going to release early, and as often as possible.

To maintain the possibility for comparing results, we provide the database and the scoring matrix data on the download site. You are not constrained to use only that database, but please do use it when comparing to other systems.

Tests will be made modular in the 2.0 release, using a set of XML control files for the tests.

Comments, suggestions, contributions, should be directed to the mailing list.
