    Submitted by Alysha Duran; posted on Friday, December 28, 2012

    SUMMARY

    The successful applicant will integrate a dynamic team of biostatisticians, bioinformaticians, computer scientists, and programmers lead by Dr. Raphael Gottardo to support the development of software packages to analyze and integrate high throughput data from next generation immunological assays (e.g. single-cell gene expression, CyTOF, next generation sequencing). The position will involve the development of efficient packages for the analysis of high-throughput data, including computational algorithms development and implementation of creative solutions for large volume data management and processing. The candidate will have access to state of the art assay data generated by cutting edge projects in infectious disease and vaccine development, as well as a state of the art computing infrastructure including brand new CPU and GPU clusters

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The scientific programmer will independently determine programmatic approaches to problems and develop algorithms and software programs that are computationally efficient, effective, and well documented for public release. The successful applicant will be expected to not only implement state-of-the art computational algorithms but also contribute to the development of novel algorithms relevant to the analysis of high throughput assays.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • Because the applicants will be expected to 1) develop novel computational algorithms for processing large immunological datasets, 2) implement creative solutions for large volume data management challenges, 3) create high performance computing solutions for processing large data sets, an MS degree (or higher) in computer science, bioinformatics, statistics, biostatistics or related field is required.
    • Proficient in C/C++ a must
    • Proficient in JavaScript including extJS or jquery or similar, a must
