    Opportunity: Senior Systems Engineer (HPC, Linux, RHEL, and CentOS) (#44129) @ SRA International -- Bethesda, MD (US)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    SRA is seeking a High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineer to perform architecture design and day-to-day operational maintenance, support and upgrades for Linux operating systems, and servers. Platforms to be supported include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and Linux-based security appliances.

    In this role, you will support a leading federal healthcare organization focused on scientific research to better understand, treat, and ultimately prevent infectious, immunologic and allergic diseases. This position is part of a newly awarded program supporting National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). This opportunity is for full time employment with SRA and based at the client's site in Bethesda, Maryland off Fernwood Rd (part time teleworking allowed).

    Key responsibilities include:
    • Perform architecture design and day-to-day operational maintenance, support and upgrades for Linux operating systems, and servers. Platforms to be supported include Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CentOS and Linux-based security appliances.
    • Develop and implement innovative and complex solutions, ensuring that upgrades and changes comply with established guidelines and processes.
    • Help further develop and execute High Performance Computing solutions using cluster/grid technologies.
    • Serve as a senior member of the team responsible for the planning and development of a robust and scalable management infrastructure for Linux computing resources.
    • Apply in-depth HPC and Linux expertise to collaborate with stakeholders across IT and domain disciplines to expand HPC use in support of world class, cutting-edge scientific research.

    REQUIREMENTS

    • BS and 6+ years experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Experience with administering High Performance Computing cluster technologies such as Infiniband, GPFS, SGE, Moab/Torque
    • Experience with Linux/Unix variants, ideally in an HPC-related area
    • Knowledge and experience with configuration management software such as Puppet, Chef, CFEngine, etc.
    • Scripting experience (Perl, Python, Ruby, bash, etc.)
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively lead technical projects
    • Working knowledge of popular bioinformatics applications and experience installing and configuring within a cluster

    PREFERENCES

    • KVM/VMware administration and deployment experience
    • SAN/NAS hardware experience (NetApp and DDN preferred)
    • Enterprise backup software experience (especially IBM TSM and/or CommVault Simpana)
    • Able to clearly present ideas to both technical and non-technical users and staff
