Project work in Bio-Informatics (Proteomics)
Title : HOMOLOGY MODELLING OF MRP â?? NUCLEOTIDE BINDING
PROTEIN FROM PYROCOCCUS ABYSSI.
Methods & Software Tools:- Template finding, seq alignment, PDB-Blast, FUGUE,
3P-PSSM, Verify 3D, Prochech, Clustal.
Description:- The knowledge of a protein three dimensional (3D) structure is a basic requisite for better understanding of its function and is essential in almost every area of protein research such as enzyme kinetics, ligand-protein binding studies, gene characterization and construction, the completion of human and other full genome sequences we are already in the post-genomic era and are how able to infer sequences of many sequences of proteins.
However, the experimental techniques for proetein 3D structure determination are technically demanding, time consuming and may not keep with which new protein sequences are being discovered by genomic research. That is why a lot of efforts has been made to develop new computational methods.
By using computational methods,we constructed a protein 3D structure of nucleotide binding protein from Pyrococcus Abyssi(as a target) using Nitrogenase iron protein-I isolated from Azatobacter vinelandii (as a template).
We also tested the correctness of the fold (protein) in the model structure using various computational methods.
Project Work and Description :
(Academic)
Cytogenetic Effects of a Carbamate Pesticide On Mitotic Cells of Alium cepa
A methyl carbamate pesticide dunet -12.59. Formulation of methomyl has been analysed for its cytogenetic effects using mitotic cells (from root tips) of Alium cepa. From the observation, it can be concluded that Dunet is toxic and could induce chromosomal aberrations in the form of stickiness and clumpings in the plant systems of Alium cepa .
Since Dunet is extensively being used for several agricultural crops like cotton, bringal, chillies it can be said that there is a necessity of careful monitoring of this Insecticide. This is an important from the point of view of environmental pollution. Otherwise in due course it may be a major threat to the human health.
There is a need to stop the indiscriminate use of such Toxic and Clastogenic chemicals.
FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE :
Ã? Presently I am working as a Bioinformatics programmer in Orbit Information Technologies,Hyderabad,Andhra Pradesh.since from 2002 to till now.
