Dow AgroSciences provides innovative technologies for crop protection, pest and vegetation management, seeds, traits, and agricultural biotechnology to serve the world's growing population. Global sales for Dow AgroSciences, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, are $4.5 billion.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will define and implement appropriate information management (IM) actions and technologies to facilitate and automate the flow of results and information captured from global work processes in IM systems to information users. Under the overarching IM strategy, the goal of these activities is the continuous improvement of the efficiency of information flow to and within the global regulatory function to ensure prompt distribution of knowledge for the enhancement of users' productivity. When the IM solutions require the use of corporate information systems (I/S) developers, the business analyst ensures adequate communication between the I/S team and the users to ensure the delivery of the desired functionality. Users of these solutions are those who retrieve, compile and analyze data to respond to specific regulatory issues or needs.

The current IM systems are custom and commercial Oracle database applications and Microsoft Office-based applications customized to functional work processes through VBA code. Some departmental systems interface with corporate R&D systems; therefore, the business analyst will interact with his or her peers for these corporate R&D systems to ensure the successful movement of information through the corporation. This position resides in the IM department within the global regulatory function whose mission is to secure and maintain the registration of Dow AgroSciences products with global regulatory agencies.

The primary focus of this position will be on the support of the Biotechnology platform.

    Primary responsibilities:
    • Analyze, define, harmonize and document the flow of biotechnology information from functional and corporate systems through departmental work processes in coordination with work process experts.
    • Define, gain acceptance of, develop and implement appropriate software/systems solutions for improving the efficiency of information flow and use within the function and, if needed, across R&D
    • Plan and coordinate more complex system development and evolution activities in partnership with corporate I/S development personnel and the users
    • Collaborate with work process experts and other business analysts to harmonize standards and common codes and define business rules for efficient systems operation
    • Generate user documentation and training materials and ensure users are adequately trained with the assistance of the system administrator
    • Ensure that data dictionaries are maintained by the system administrator and database entry models are followed by study entry personnel according to established business rules
